Articles of Incorporation of the Japan Oil Chemists’ Society (JOCS)

Chapter 1: General Provisions

Article 1 (Name): This organization shall be called the Japan Oil Chemists’ Society (abbreviated as “JOCS”).

Article 2 (Office): The principal office of this organization shall be located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Branch offices may be established as necessary. Regulations concerning branch offices shall be separately determined by the Board of Directors.

Chapter 2: Purpose and Business

Article 3 (Purpose): The Japan Oil Chemists’ Society (JOCS) strives to advance science and technology related to fats and oils, lipids, surfactants, and their related substances, and contribute to the development of industries and improvement of people’s life and health. Our Society conducts business both in Japan and abroad, aiming to foster international collaboration and promote global scientific exchange.

Article 4 (Business): The Society shall carry out the following projects in order to achieve the purpose of the preceding article:

  • Public business of research results: organizing international conferences, the World Congress on Oleo Science, and publishing the open-access journal listed in DOAJ, Journal of Oleo Science.
  • Human resources education, research incentives, and commendation of research achievements, including international awards and fellow appointments.
  • Standardization and dissemination of evaluation/test methods, including international promotion.
  • Regional academic promotion and dissemination projects.
  • Revitalization of academic fields, including program design for the World Congress on Oleo Science.
  • Other necessary projects to achieve the Society’s purpose.

The above business shall be conducted in Japan and abroad.

Chapter 3: Membership

Article 5: JOCS welcomes individuals, corporations, public research institutions, and groups from around the world. Membership categories include:

  • Regular Members: Individuals, corporations, or groups supporting the Society’s purpose.
  • Student Members: Students enrolled in universities or equivalent institutions.
  • Asian Overseas Members: Non-Japanese nationals residing outside Japan.
  • Asian Overseas Student Members: Non-Japanese students residing outside Japan.

Our Society conducts business both in Japan and abroad, striving to advance science and technology and contribute to global well-being.
