Not only academic exchanges but also exchanges through the history / tradition / culture / humanity / manner of the host nation are important missions for an international academic conference. Sasebo, where this conference will be held, is located in a key area of the Kyushu region and is a scenic site in which you can clearly see the historical leaps to modernization through Edo - Meiji Restoration - Taisho - Showa. We can say that Sasebo is filled with attractions not only for Japanese people but also for foreigners.

Welcome Party:

17:30-19:00 on September 30 (Sun) in the Reception Hall (1F) of Arkas Sasebo

We will prepare light meals, beer, soft drink, etc. for 200 people. The medium-sized screen will introduce the overview and highlights of WCOS2012. The “OLEO Science Fair”, which was held on the Hiyoshi Campus of Keio University in this August, was a great success, and we are scheduled to introduce videos from the fair as well. We have invited 20 domestic and international researchers who are active in the front line to this conference. Most of them will participate in this welcome party. We hope that young members would utilize this opportunity, enhance your international goodwill skills at the venue, and enjoy new encounters.

Tea Ceremony Experience Course:

13:00 -17:00 on October 2 in the tea room (3F) of Arkas Sasebo

All fees will be covered by the conference headquarters, and all participants can experience the tea ceremony free of charge. Please use this opportunity to invite guests from overseas and enjoy Japanese traditional culture.
